The Protest is not Terrorism collective campaigns against the use of laws against terrorism, national security and serious crimes to suppress protest and censor political speech. We believe that movements challenging genocide, war, climate breakdown and racism are more vital than ever in a moment when the British state’s authoritarian turn echoes similar moves by the US and European governments. 

Our mass movements must decide for themselves which tactics to adopt in the struggle for a world beyond racism, war and ecological crisis. In a democratic society, it is not the role of the police to interfere in the peaceful exercise of our civil rights, and we will defend those in our movement who are under attack from the state. Civil disobedience, strikes to halt weapons deliveries, mass protests outside arms factories or marches through city centres, boycotts, divestment campaigns and public meetings in defiance of state censorship all have a long and proud history in these islands and beyond. They remain essential elements in the repertoire of contestation against authoritarian power. 

We provide a platform for news, resources and campaigns about these questions for the trade unions, the Palestine solidarity, anti-racist and environmental movements.
